Call for papers & speaking proposals at MCPC

12/02/2007

The biennial World Conference on Mass Customization & Personalization (MCPC) will take place at two separate venues in October.

Part One, the MCP Research & Innovation Conference, will be held on October 7-10, at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Media Lab in Cambridge/Boston, USA, with an interdisciplinary focus on the new advancements in the field. Part Two, the MCP Business Seminar, will take place on October 11-12 at the HEC (Haute Études Commerciales) Business School in Montreal, Canada, with a focus on applying mass customisation and personalisation in a retail setting.

The organisers are now calling for submissions and speaking proposals based on:

  • Are all the necessary enabling technologies for footwear mass customisation available? Are they perceived as such and accepted by shoe companies?
  • What is still missing? What will have to come? Are research efforts still required?
  • Are shoe companies moving towards mass customisation?
  • Are consumers aware of the benefits and the potential of MC?
  • Bring your own experience in shoe mass customisation
  • Is MC more Mass or more Customisation?

Papers can be full papers, with a maximum of 25 pages, which will be considered for the conference's Best Paper Award. Alternatively they can be

extended abstracts of work in progress—approximately four to eight pages—including comments on the research question, the methodology, data and empirical methods used (if applicable) and a discussion of the results. The deadline for submissions is March 19.
