New five-year plan from CLE
The Indian Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has unveiled plans to redevelop the infrastructure of the Indian leather sector through its 11th five-year plan.
The plan, which is currently under governmental review, would involve increased capacity augmentation by establishing Small Integrated Leather Parks (SLIPs) in various clusters as well as an extension of the Leather Sector Modernisation Scheme. It also hopes to develop centres of excellence for design and development and to continue existing schemes such as overseas investment promotion, a human resources development programme, saddlery development and a Rural Artisans’ Development Programme.
