FPCCI awards leather sector trophies

’s Apex Trade body, The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has awarded four trophies to the best performing exporters in the leather sector between July 2005 and June 2006. The awards were presented by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad.

M/s Leatherfield (Pvt) Ltd. of Sialkot was awarded for its leather garment exports worth Rs1.8 billion ($29.6 million); Siddiq Leather Works (Pvt) Ltd. of Lahore was honoured for its finished leather exports worth Rs1 billion; Blue Horizon (Pvt) Ltd. of Sialkot was presented with a trophy for its leather glove exports worth Rs457 million; and a special Merit Export trophy was given to Kampala Industries (Pvt) Ltd. for its leather glove exports worth Rs232 million.

The country’s 2005/06 leather sector exports totalled $1.13 billion, up from $938 million in the prior year period. Total exports reached $16.451 billion compared with $14.391 billion in 2004/05.
