Outerwear and handbags lead Burberry’s retail growth
UK-based luxury apparel and accessories company Burberry Group plc has reported improved revenue and sales figures for its third quarter ended
Total revenue increased by 25% on an underlying basis to £206 million ($404.8 million) from £168 million in the third quarter of 2005. Retail sales accounted for approximately 70% of the total revenue, increasing by 24%, underlying, to £143 million, up from £115 in the prior year period. Outerwear performance led retail gains with new luxury handbag styles and Burberry’s runway collection also experiencing strong demand. Wholesale revenue increased by 33% underlying, to reach £43 million. Underlying licensing revenue for the quarter rose by 12% from £18 million to £19 million.
