The Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados) has urged the government to impose a 35% import duty on Chinese footwear imports. It has also requested politicians to adopt more aggressive policies in an attempt avoid Chinese goods from flooding the domestic market.

China recently rejected voluntary restrictions on footwear imports proposed by the Brazilian shoe industry.
