According to figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan produced 4.614 million m²   of shoe upper leather in the period July to September 2006, an increase of 1.21% compared with the 4.559 million m² produced in the corresponding period of 2005. Sole leather production also increased to 33 tonnes from 30 tonnes in 2005—an increase of 10%.
