Saudi Arabia’s hides, skins and leather exports grow

According to data released by The Central Department of Statistics & Information of the Ministry of Economy & Planning in Riyadh, the country exported raw hides, skins and leather worth SAR328 million ($87.47 million) in 2005 compared with SAR282 million in 2004 and SAR228 million in 2003—an increase of 16.31% compared with 2004 and nearly 44% over 2003.

Of the total, raw hides, skins and leather accounted for SAR284 million compared with SAR 244 million.

The total exports from Saudi Arabia in 2005 totalled SAR677 billion, approximately 76% of which were accounted for by crude oil exports.
