Extra land acquired for Indian leather park
Speaking at the Indian Leather Products Association’s (ILPA) 19th Annual general meeting last week, ILPA president, Tapan Nandi, announced that the association has acquired another 2,025m2 near the planned Calcutta Leather Complex (CLC) at Bantala in east Kolkata, in order to house a tailor-made service facility centre for the leather industry. The centre will provide banking, courier, and marketing services, etc.
The leather goods park project is currently being built on approximately 60 acres of land inside the Calcutta Leather Complex, and is expected to be completed by 2008-09. About 90 companies of various sizes have already taken possession of their respective plots in the leather park and further large investments are expected by 2008-09. The infrastructure, such as roads, lighting, sewage facilities at the park, has already been completed.
