Management changes at Smithfield Foods

American meat production company Smithfield Foods, Inc. has named executive vice president Robert (Bo) Manly as interim chief financial officer, effective January 1, 2007. Mr Manly joined
Smithfield in August as executive vice president. Prior to this he was president and chief operating officer of Premium Standard Farms, a company that Smithfield has agreed to acquire, pending regulatory approval. Before this he was executive vice president of Smithfield Foods for ten years

He succeeds Daniel Stevens, who is to become senior financial advisor to Groupe Smithfield, a major component of the company's European operations that include the Sara Lee assets. Mr Stevens currently serves on the board of Groupe Smithfield. He joined Smithfield in 1999 as vice president and corporate controller and assumed the position of vice president and chief financial officer in 2001.
