01/12/2006

Tyson Foods, Inc., the world’s largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef and pork, is to open a new research and development facility in January. The facility will incorporate consumer research, 19 development kitchens, and a federally-inspected pilot plant handling all three proteins.

The new facility is part of the company’s strategy of focusing on innovation, which, along with cost efficiency, it sees as key to its success.

Tyson is also launching a new customer resource called Meat Max - a category management process, which goes beyond simple stock keeping unit (SKU) management to include trade area and consumer analysis to market the product at the right time and place.
