Significant fall in leather exports

Leather exports for the period July to October 2006 fell by 38.6% to $248.9 million, compared with $405.4 million in the same four-month period of 2005. Finished leather exports fell to $73.4 million from $97.3 million, leathergoods—including garments and gloves—slipped to $144.120 million from $256.142 million, and footwear fell to $31.4 million from $51.896. There was an overall decline of 22.45% in terms of quantity and 24.57% in terms of value during the period.
