UK-based research and technology centre SATRA has increased its capacity for the testing of furniture and upholstery materials as a result of the recent growth in demand.

The new 4,000 square foot laboratory is equipped to test leather, rubber, textile, plastic and metal. It is air conditioned to control the temperature and humidity and contains facilities for testing the physical, chemical and environmental properties of furniture and upholstery materials, such as the Martindale abrasion test and tear strength tests. Other services available for leather upholstery materials comprise tests for light fastness, wet and dry rubbing, flexing and soiling.
