According to officials, footwear exports from one of China’s largest shoe production regions, Wenzhou, rose 30.11% during the first ten months of 2006, compared with the same period last year. The EU remained the largest export market, in spite of the anti-dumping tariffs imposed by the EU. The USA and Russia were the second and third largest footwear export markets respectively.
The value of footwear exported in the January-to-October period reached $1.704 billion, already exceeding the $1.584 billion reported for the full-year in 2005.
During the same ten-month period, Wenzhou’s total exports and imports increased to $8.12 billion, up 26.59% over the same period last year.
