LDDB signs MoU with M/S Grazing Grounds
Chief executive of the Livestock and Dairy Development Board Dr Muhammad Afzal, an affiliate of the Pakistan Ministry of Food, Agriculture & Livestock, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the company Grazing Grounds, Karachi, whereby the former will provide technical assistance to the private sector firm to establish a large sheep and goat farm for meat production on the main Karachi-Hyderabad super highway in Thana Bula Khan District, Sindh.
Leather experts hope that this will be a new source for obtaining skins.
Grazing Grounds will also be establishing a state-of-the-art abattoir along with cold storage facilities to provide hygienic good quality meat to local consumers as well as for export purposes. The livestock farm will be established on more than 1,000 acres of land with both breeding and fattening facilities for the animals. Total investment for the project will be PRs1.4 billion ($31.2 million) and the project will raise 175,000 animals producing 5,250 tonnes of additional meat annually.
