19,871 buyers at SIPIEL

The number of foreign visitors at the latest edition of SIPIEL, September 29 – October 1, increased by 10%, whilst the number of Spanish visitors increased by 7%. A total of 19,871 visitors attended the Footwear and Leather Goods Week in
Madrid, 16,959 Spanish visitors and 2,912 foreign visitors.

SIPIEL brought together 761 companies, occupying a net exhibition area measuring 36,582 m².

Brands featured included: Pedro García, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Pons Quintana, Magrit, Lottusse, Casadei, Fratelli Rossetti, and Reebok.

As a whole, the Modacalzado exhibition brought together 645 exhibitors, 20 more than in March, of which 171 were foreign exhibitors, a 12% increase compared with the last edition.

Leather accessories companies at the Iberpiel Marroquinería exhibition included Lupo, Olimpo, Calvin Klein, Sisley, Benetton, Nike Bags, Liberto, Cats, Nobuck, and Guy Laroche.

Two daily fashion shows were featured in Hall 9, where the Elda Prestigio Group and a group of companies from Portugal presented their footwear collections for spring/summer 2007. Various Trend Showcases and a series of monographic exhibitions were also included, devoted to shoes and bags.

The Balearic Islands Institute for Innovation (IDI) organised an exhibition entitled ‘ShoeRoom: Footwear Trends’, which focused on the development and history of the footwear industry.

The next edition of SIPIEL, which will present the collections for autumn/winter 2007/08 will take place March 23-25, 2007.
