Coach Japan boosts company sales in 2006

New York-based luxury and leather goods retailer Coach, Inc. has reported improved financial results for fiscal 2006, its sixth year as a public company.

Sales rose 23% to $2.1 billion. Business in North America was particularly successful, with sales of premium handbags and accessories flourishing. The market in Japan also contributed to sales increases in the period, with Coach Japan sales accounting for 20% of revenues.

The company’s operating margin rose to 36.2% for the year and gross margin climbed to over 77%.

25 stores were opened in the US, and seven were expanded, while 16 were added in Japan, and nine were expanded.
