Explosion at Wollsdorf Leder kills two

04/10/2006

An explosion early Monday October 2 at the plant of leading Austrian tanner and leather producer Wollsdorf Leder has resulted in the death of two women, aged 29 and 51, at the plant. It is reported that some 30 people needed treatment by paramedics and that five sustained serious injuries. While the accident is currently under investigation, it appears that the explosion was caused by a chemical reaction, which resulted in a leak of hydrogen sulphide.
