Sri Lanka’s leather exports decline

According to
Sri Lanka’s customs department, Sri Lanka exported leather and leather products worth $11.79 million from January-July compared with $15.74 million in the corresponding period in 2005, showing a decline of 25.07%. The country also exported footwear worth $7.62 million during this period compared with $7.28 million in January-July 2005 showing a growth of 4.72%. Total exports for the country, including leather, stood at $3.67 billion compared with $3.466 billion in first seven months of 2005.
