Chinese leather and footwear exports rise in June

According to official data from the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), China’s leather exports sector grew 11.2% to $10.706 billion in June from $9.629 billion in the corresponding period in 2005.

The figures showed that the country exported leather shoes worth $4.053 billion, travel goods worth $4.057 billion, leather garments worth $655 million, fur garments worth $198 million, leather gloves worth $361 million, leather balls worth $141 million, raw leather hides worth $1.343 million, leather skins worth $863 million, footwear components worth $359 million and leather equipment worth $17 million compared with $3.627 billion, $3.445 billion, $875 million, $215 million, $340 million, $85 million, $1.15 million, $743 million, $289 million and $8 million respectively in June 2005.

China imported $3.07 billion worth of leather articles in June, a rise of 15.4% from $2.661 billion in June 2005.
