GDS visitors also attracted to GLS

18/09/2006

There was an 8% rise in exhibitors at the 102nd GDS at Düsseldorf, September 15-17. The orders and information platform attracted 33,000 visitors (a 4.5% rise) from 82 countries to Düsseldorf who came to gather information on the forthcoming shoe trends for spring/summer 2007. Over half a million shoe styles were presented by 1,398 exhibitors (compared with 1,301 at the previous event).

Contributing to the success of GDS was the new premium area ‘white cubes’ at which 90 labels and high-fashion brands presented their new collections in an elegant and purist setting.

Other events included fashion shows, TrendVision, Trend Lectures, the Sales Assistants’ Day and a Men’s Special focusing on innovative sales strategies for men’s shoes

Around 30% of the visitors from 41 countries were also interested in the leather goods fair GLS, held for the second time alongside GDS. 160 exhibitors and brands from 25 nations (including numerous brands featuring shoes, bags and leather goods) attended. More than 50% of visitors at GLS were from abroad and over 80% were managerial staff from top and middle management.

The next GDS/GLS will run March 9-11, 2007.
