Chinese leather exports boom in March

Chinese leather exports performed well during March, recording a growth of 15.1% to $4.858 billion from $4.221 billion in March 2005.

A breakdown showed that the country exported leather shoes worth $1.901 billion compared with $1.648 billion in 2005, travel goods worth $1.751 billion compared with $1.452 billion in 2005, leather garments worth $331 million compared with $417.9 million, fur garments worth $116.4 million compared with $82.38 million and leather gloves worth $158.57 million compared with $145 million in March 2005. China exported leather balls worth $61.44 million compared with $38 million in 2005, raw leather hides worth $357,000 compared with $758,000, skins worth $366.64 million versus $301.98 million, footwear components worth $161.81 million compared with $131.43 million and leather equipment worth $8.39 million compared with $3.06 million in March 2005.
 
On the other hand,
China
imported various leather goods worth $1.341 billion in March.
