In terms of wet end chemicals, the environmentally-friendly Tergolix SL-01 and Tergolix DA-01 show strong degreasing properties and high emulsifying power during soaking, liming, deliming and tanning. Both products are biodegradable and nonylphenol ethoxylate free.
Tanicor SCU liquid constitutes the main component of the company’s wet white retanning system. It is a self-tanning agent that helps to ensure a leather that has the maximum cutting area by filling out the empty areas.
Tanicor PG is a phenolic-based retanning agent suitable for all shoe upper leather with a tight grain and a round and mellow handle.
Tergotan TSP Liquid is a versatile retanning copolymer for soft leathers and can be used at different stages of the retanning, depending on the desired effect. Main characteristics include softness, tight/fine grain, no bleaching, soft and smooth handling, level dyeing, uniform milling effect and light and heat fastness properties.
Derminol ALE Liquid combines synthetic esters and oils to give maximum softness and a lightweight feel over a wide range of leather types and is odourless.
With its blend of anionic wetting agents for the soaking stage, Tergolix W-01 Liquid opens the fibre structure well, especially on air-dried hides and skins which are difficult to soak. Hides processed with the liquid show a slight swelling at the end of the soaking, a higher water-uptake and a more efficient removal of the scud. After liming, the pelts are more open and significantly cleaner.
In terms of wet end dyes and dyeing auxiliaries, the company has recently added Sandoderm Deep Brown F and Sandoderm Black D to its range, which are said to provide high fastness at a low cost.
The Melio P-4899 is a penetrator for spray and roller-/curtain coater and applications, offering jet black colour, and the Supronil HK Black AS-01 can be mixed with water and selected organic solvents including butyl acetate.
The Melio Resin A-822 is designed for furniture and its attributes include a soft elegant base coat compact, high coverage and low tackiness.
Clariant’s Melio Resin A-825 can be used for soft garment leather and is reportedly easy to use, generates elegant aniline optic and is compatible with Aqualen AKU (1%). The product can also be used for shoe and furniture leather.
New topcoats for furniture include Aqualen Top DC-2043 (natural feel), Aqualen Top DC-2044 (natural waxy feel), Aqualen Top DC-2045 (waxy feel) and Aqualen Top GC-2032 (natural feel).
Glossy aqueous emulsion lacquer Melio EW-346 is versatile and offers a natural effect with high filling power.
Other products include modern waterproof pull up Bavon Oil WR-601 and Bavon Wax WR-653.
Melio Aquabase Technique is for filling problem zones, for example scratches and pinholes and can be used as a prebase. Melio 06-U-51 can be used as a prebase for a wide range of leather articles, and can also be used as filler to improve coverage of standard base coats.
Melio 06-U-55 and Melio 06-U-56 are also new fillers in the range.
The Melio Prograde C-01 is a medium/hard formulated binder for automotive leather and the Melio Prograde C-02 is a medium/soft formulated binder for shoes and upholstery.
