British Glove Association awards students
The winning students of this year's British Glove Association Design Competitions were recently presented with their awards by the Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers, Stephen Brooker, at a luncheon hosted by the company at Mansion House,
The winning gloves were manufactured and on display for the event.
A pair of "electric blue" cape leather driving gloves, designed by Jaime Lawn of the University of Lincoln, were manufactured at Bennett Safetywear's St.Helens' factory. The factory specialises in the manufacture of leather gloves such as pilots' gloves, uniform gloves for the police and military and racing drivers' gloves. Miss Lawn won first prize in the Sports/Activity Glove Category. The dress glove leather was supplied by Pittards of Yeovil.
Wendy Jeins' special occasion winning wedding glove was made up by Cornelia James which has been glovemaker 'by appointment' to the Queen since 1986.
