34% increase in Chinese leather bag exports

According to a report by media company Global Sources, the value of Chinese leather bag and wallet exports increased by 34% percent in 2005 to $2.3 million.

Top export markets were the US, with imports valued at over $740 million, Japan with $475.2 million and Italy with $114 million.

The production of these items is set to continue rising and there are reports that 63% of manufacturers anticipate significant increases in the coming years.

The 133-page China Sourcing Report entitled ‘Leather Bags & Wallets’ includes profiles of 76 Chinese manufacturers.
