Hide and skin production up in Pakistan

According to an economic survey conducted by the ministry of finance, Pakistan produced 9.1 million hides and 45.2 million skins in 2005-6 compared with 8.4 million and 42.6 million respectively in 2004-5. Hide production was up by 8.35% in this period and skin production increased by 6.10% over the previous year.

Cattle production stood at 25.5 million in 2005-06 compared with 24.2 million the previous year, whilst the number of buffalo stood at 28.4 million compared with 26.3 million, sheep at 25.5 million compared with 24.9 million, goats at 61.9 million from 55.6 million, camel production remained steady at 0.7 million, as did horses at 0.3 million and mules at 0.3 million, while ass production increased to 4.3 million from 4.2 million.
