Pittards sells Leeds factory

20/06/2006

UK leather company Pittards Plc. has sold its factory in Leeds in a £6.5 million cash deal. Established in the 1970s, the plant currently produces technically advanced leather used to make footwear, gloves, luxury leather items and sports equipment. Around 290 jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.

The company will continue to occupy the Cross Green site until December while the transfer of work to the company’s Yeovil site and to a sub-contractor in Asia is completed.

Net sale proceeds will be used to reduce borrowings.
