UNIC General Meeting to be held
The Italian leather sector comprises 62% of EU turnover and 20% of world-wide exports. Almost two thirds of production is exported to 133 countries, while 92% of the primary material requirements come from abroad.
The leather commodity industry (undressed and tanned) is the most significant, valued at $20 billion. Luxury goods have become increasingly important, totalling 18% of production (24% in terms of value), in the following order: leather goods, clothing, footwear, furnishings and car upholstery.
