PLGMEA meets prime minister

A delegation from the Pakistan Leather Garment Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (PLGMEA) met Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz to discuss the prospects and problems faced by leather garment, leather gloves and  leathergoods exporters. According to reports, Mr Aziz appeared willing to provide full government support to exporters.

PLGMEA chairman Ahmed Zulfiqar gave a presentation, highlighting that research and development are essential in order to enable the leather garment and leathergoods Industries to face competition from low cost countries such as China. Pakistani exporters are struggling with rising costs and are finding it difficult to compete on a cost basis.
