According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), the production value of fur products in Chongfu—the largest fur trading area in China, exceeded Yuan 4.5 billion ($567 million) in 2005 and is expected to increase further in 2006.

Official statistics reveal that Chongfu’s fur business is growing steadily, currently accounting for 60% of fur business in Zhejiang and 40% of China’s total fur business.

Su Ning, the second largest fur area in China, posted exports worth $117 million from January to October 2005—23% of total Chinese fur exports.
