India’s Minister of State for Commerce Shri Jairam Ramesh has called for an expansion of existing areas of trade, investment and cooperation between India and Ethiopia.

The minister, speaking at the inauguration of the fourth India-Ethiopia Joint Trade Committee meeting, proposed that various Indian delegations, including the Council of Leather Exports, explore the possibility of sourcing raw hides and skins from Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, Mr Ahmed Tusa, State Minister of Trade and Industry of Ethiopia, highlighted the widening trade gap between the two nations and stated that encouraging Indian investors to invest in Ethiopia would be the best way to narrow the gap.
