Up to 150 job losses at KAT
According to local media reports, Namibia’s Karas Abattoir and Tannery (KAT) is to cut 100–150 jobs as part of its restructuring operation that is scheduled to take place in July. Restructuring is mainly due to the planned closure of the company’s ostrich slaughtering plant.
New projects, such as the slaughtering of small livestock, will be discussed by the board as a way of creating new jobs.
According to reports, the last ostrich slaughter will take place during the second week of June.
