Positive performance in Pakistan

According to an Economic Survey released in Pakistan, the country’s leather industry performed well between July 2005 and March 2006. The leather goods sector showed significant growth/recovery of 10.91% after a negative performance of 5.6% in 2004-05. This was in contrast to an unprecedented growth of 31.69 % in 2003-04.

The survey added that large-scale manufacturing, accounting for 69.5% of overall manufacturing, registered growth of 9% in the current fiscal year 2005-06 against a target of 14.5% and last year's achievement of 15.6%.
