Pollution fears after earthquake in Indonesia

Following the earthquake in Java, Indonesia on May 27, there are fears that the area may become polluted as a result of damage to the industrial leather facilities in the Bantul area.


The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) will assess the potential pollution caused by the disaster.

The death toll following the disaster now stands at around 5,000, with 60-80% of homes in the Bantul District having been destroyed.
