Following the ban on NPE (nonylphenol ethoxylate) as a raw material for degreasing agents or other products, because of its toxic effects on the environment, Netherlands-based leather chemical company Smit and Zoon BV has developed a new degreasing agent which does not contain harmful raw materials.

Synthol DA 112 is said to be a very effective and safe degreasing agent that is also ecologically friendly. This means that it does not contain any harmful raw materials such as NPE, solvents or AOX (absorbable organic halogens). Synthol DA 112 is an eco-friendly and biodegradable degreasing agent.

It can be used for all stages in the wet process and is stable to acids, alkali, and electrolytes.
