Bangladesh seeks German investment in leather sector

Bangladesh has urged Germany to invest in the country’s leather sector.

During a meeting between a German trade delegation and Bangladeshi businessmen, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), president of the DCCI, M.A. Momen, urged German businesses to invest in agro-based sectors such as food and fruit processing, leather and leather goods, tourism, education and telecommunication sectors

Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the Association for East Asia and Pacific (OAV), called Bangladesh an "emerging tiger" in terms of international trade and urged Germany to assist the country in its technical and managerial development.

In fiscal 2004-05, Bangladesh's exports to Germany totalled $1,353.80 million versus imports of $266.65 million.
