Leather outerwear, accessories and apparel retailer Wilsons The Leather Experts Inc. has posted results for the quarter ended April 29.

Net sales decreased 11.4% to $74.7 million compared with $84.3 million for the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the first quarter decreased 10.8% compared with an increase of 15.8% in the same period last year.

Wilsons reported a net loss of $6.5 million for the quarter. This compares with a net loss of $3.8 million for the 2005 first quarter.
