Karachi-based M/s. Muhammad Shafi Tanneries (Pvt) Ltd., has been awarded the "Best Export Performance Trophy" by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). The trophy was given in recognition of the company’s export performance in 2004-05 (July-June), having achieved finished leather exports worth approximately Rs1.547 million ($ 26 million). The award was presented by Pakistan’s President General Pervez Musharraf.

Other companies were also awarded: M/s. Blue Horizon (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot was recognised for securing export contracts for leather gloves worth Rs546.7 million; M/s. Royal Leather Industries Ltd., Lahore for exports of leather furniture worth Rs279.197 million; M/s. Leather Connections (Pvt) Ltd. for leather belt exports worth Rs258.031 million; M/s. Mahr Garments (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot, for exports of leather garments worth Rs484.014 million; M/s. Seminar (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot for exports of leather gloves worth Rs384.226 million; M/s. JMS Tradewell International (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot, for leathergods exports (sports) worth Rs234.425 million; and M/s. Saga Sports (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot, for exports of sports gloves worth Rs28.706 million. M/s. Kampala Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Sialkot, received two awards, one for its exports of leather gloves, and the other for its exports of fancy gloves, worth Rs354.431 million in total.
