German leather chemicals company Trumpler GmbH & Co. KG has introduced a new enzymatic soaking agent, Trupowet NS.

The product is based on novel enzyme chemistry and is said to exhibit optimal effectivity at neutral pH levels.

According to the company, Trupowet NS facilitates improvements over and above traditional alkaline soaking methods with respect to rehydration and opening up of the hide structure. In addition, scud removal is improved whilst maintaining excellent flat grain characteristics.

When green fleshing is undertaken the use of the new product is said to enhance flesh removal and improve subsequent process steps.

Trupowet NS can be used on all types of raw hides. Quantities applied will normally vary between 0.1 - 0.3%, based on raw weight, dependent upon the type of raw material and process time.
