Production at more than 170 tanneries, leather garments and goods manufacturers in the Korangi industrial area in Pakistan has been seriously disrupted and exports have suffered after a bomb exploded. According to reports, factory workers have struggled to get to work due to limited transport and business activities have been largely suspended due after religious groups appealed for work to be suspended in order to mourn the deaths of the at least fifty people, including prominent religious personalities who lost their lives in the explosion. A further fifty or more people were injured in the explosion at the Karachi Nashtar Park, where people were gathered to observe the birth of Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

Chairman of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Gulzar Firoz, told local media that some industries that remained operational had barely 20% attendance from workers which resulted in the exports of textiles, leather garments and leather goods being badly affected.
