According to a report from Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ANBA), Mohamed Wasfy, the president of the leather division of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, is in Brazil to meet local shoe machinery manufacturers. The Egyptians plan on opening a centre to train staff for the industry. Mr. Wasfy has visited installations of the National Service of Industrial Education (SENAI) in Rio Grande do Sul.

Mr. Wasfy came to Brazil for the International Fair of Leather, Chemicals, Components and Equipments for Footwear and Tanneries (Fimec) to see the Brazilian-manufactured machinery with the aim of importing them to the new centre. According to the report there is also hope that Brazilian professionals will train teachers to work in the centre.

According to Mr. Wasfy, the local government is willing to sponsor the project to take the country into the Brazilian system of production.

Mr. Wasfy, who is also a member of the Leather Industry Chamber, was well impressed with the 3,000 pupils graduating from the Shoe Technology Centre every year.
