Facilities at BMC to be upgraded
The Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) will temporarily close from April 10-18 for a major upgrade of its slaughter line.
In a press statement, a spokesperson from the BMC, which has struggled to meet its projected slaughter targets, stated that the upgrade of the facilities is necessary in order for the abattoir to comply with the European Union regulations on traceability.
It is hoped that the new facilities will improve slaughtering efficiencies and enable the company to process all animals within the shortest possible time.
