Bangladesh tannery relocation on schedule

According to Bangladesh’s Industries Minister Motiur Rahman Nizami the project to relocate tanneries from the city's Hazaribag area to a new purpose-built leather industrial estate in Savar will open on schedule.

Addressing the leaders of Bangladesh’s Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters' Association (BFLLFA) and the Bangladesh Tanners' Association (BTA) at a recent meeting, the minister also asked for the cooperation of all those involved in implementing the project.

The industrial estate, with 195 developed industrial plots on 200 acres of land is being constructed at a cost of Tk1760 million ($27 million) and is expected to create jobs for nearly 100,000 people.
