MOFCOM criticises EU anti-dumping duties

Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesman Chong Quan has criticised the EU’s decision to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on Chinese leather footwear claiming that there was no dumping of Chinese shoes, and that exported shoes did not cause essential damage to the EU industry.

He stated, It is remarkably discriminatory to refuse to recognise the economic status and legal basis of all Chinese enterprises that responded to the anti-dumping case.” He added that the measures taken by the EU are not a true reflection of reality and violate the principle of fair trade. China negotiated with the EU many times, but the determination of a duty against Chinese export shoes, with which Chinese-related enterprises were strongly dissatisfied, was still passed.”

He said that China demands that the EU treat Chinese companies that responded to the anti-dumping case fairly and requested that the situation be re-analysed and reappraised.
