Call for papers for IULTCS Congress by October

14/03/2006

The XXIX Congress of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) and the 103rd Annual Meeting of The American Leather Chemists Association (ALCA) will be held together in Washington, DC, on June 20-24, 2007, and papers are now being requested for consideration.

·        Abstracts must be submitted in English, the official language of the Congress;

·        Each abstract should begin with the title in capital letters, followed by the authors’ names (underline the name of the speaker), their business addresses and the body of the abstract;

·        The abstract should be no longer than 300 English words and furnished as a Microsoft Word document;

·        A preference for oral presentation (for contributed lectures, 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion) or poster presentation is to be indicated.  Authors should indicate if they will accept a change in the format (oral vs. poster) of the presentation, or prefer to withdraw the paper in the event that an oral presentation cannot be scheduled;

·        The ALCA endorses the policy of the IULTCS that presentations must meet high standards of scientific content or degree of novelty. The results of work to be reported must not be published before the Congress.  Presentations that advertise or deal solely with the use of proprietary products are unacceptable;

·        In accordance with ALCA Bylaws and with the sanction of the IULTCS Executive Committee, all papers presented at this joint meeting will be submitted to the Journal of the American Leather Chemists Association for consideration for publication.  If accepted for presentation at the joint meeting, papers are not to be published elsewhere, other than in abstract form, without permission from the Journal Editor.

As the success of the Congress depends on the quality and quantity of papers and posters presented, practicing tanners, suppliers, and researchers are being encouraged to take part in the programme.

The deadline for submission of abstracts for lectures or posters for the combined Congress and Annual Meeting is October 1, 2006.

Abstracts should be sent to the Technical Committee Chair, Dr. William N. Marmer, USDA-ARS-ERRC, 600 East Mermaid Lane, Wyndmoor, PA 19038-8551, USA; wmarmer@errc.ars.usda.gov.

Authors of abstracts accepted for presentation will be notified by December 15, 2006.
