102nd Annual Meeting of the ALCA

15/03/2006

The American Leather Chemists Association (ALCA) will hold its Annual Meeting June 21-25, at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee, WI. The full technical programme will begin with the Wilson Memorial Lecture on June 22 and continue with over 20 lectures being presented.

This year’s Wilson Lecturer will be Dr Rainer Dorstewitz. In 1993 Dr. Dorstewitz founded the Engineering Corporation (Ingenieurgesellschaft MBH) for Special Production Units and Collagen Utilization. He has worked on the development of a new splitting machine which will be the subject of his presentation. His splitting operation is a completely new design and has no rotating parts in the lower assembly. Dr Dorstewitz is also known by his capacity in finding new ways in solving problems with technical devices and chemical processes. In 2003 he received the VGCT Award for outstanding scientific and technical achievements for the development of a new technology in splitting limed hides.

This year’s technical programme offers a wide array of leather technologies covering tanning to finishing and environmental issues. There will be an array of international presenters from around the world.

The full program, detailed schedule, and registration information is available on the ALCA website, www.leatherchemists.org or by contacting Carol Adcock, Executive Secretary of the ALCA, 1314 50th Street, Suite 103, Lubbock, TX.
