Argentinean leather chemical company Pellital is celebrating its 20th anniversary. During its 20 years as a supplier to the leather industry, Pellital S/A, part of the  Surfactan-Pellital Group, has not only expanded into the rest of South and Central America but has established itself successfully in the Chinese market.

Pellital specialises in the development of liming and tanning chemicals. The company's liming systems do not destroy the hair and have a low environmental impact. At the moment, we are working on everything that is chrome-free, or rather, metal-free," said Horacio Gutiérrez, director.

Besides the development and manufacture of chemical specialties, Pellital is also the representative and licensee of Münzing Chemie GmbH in Argentina. It also represents German company Dystar in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Peru and will soon close a licensing deal with Danish enzymatic product supplier, Novozymes.

The group has five industrial units including a large R&D laboratory and has recently set up an effluent treatment plant as it plans to offer tanneries a range of water treatment products in the near future.
