Clariant’s Leather Business has launched a new retanning agent Sandotan SCU, for producing innovative automotive leathers with excellent tanning properties. Sandotan SCU liquid is the main component of the wet white retanning system, and is a high quality synthetic tanning agent that will improve the properties and appearance of wet white leathers. With the use of Sandotan SCU, it is not necessary to add the usual high amount of different retanning products and it is possible to make the leather without or with lower quantities of Tara. With this product Clariant offers an innovative product that meets today’s highest requirements for ecological leathers, while giving the tanner maximum added value and process simplicity. 

Sandotan SCU is a self tanning agent in its own right and as such it will help to ensure a leather that has the maximum cutting area by preferentially filling out the empty areas whilst not detracting from the softness and overall good handle of the leather. It helps to achieve intra and inter hide production consistency and to level out the differences in the general softness and milling pattern.
