Head of Indian abattoir project suspended

According to local media reports, following a number of serious problems and discrepancies in the management of the Ghazipur slaughterhouse project in Delhi, India, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended the project’s head, Dr M.L. Sharma, following the discovery of irregularities in orders and payments, and has ordered an investigation.

The project was due to have been completed in December 2005 deadline, but is now unlikely to be finished before June this year, due to the problems incurred.

The MCD has already faced court action over other financial regulations connected with the project.
