La-Z-Boy posts lower sales in Q3

US residential furniture producer La-Z-Boy Incorporated has reported lower net sales for the third fiscal quarter ended January 28. Net sales were $502.3 million, down $4.6 million, or 0.9%, compared with the prior-year period.

For the nine months ended January 28, net sales were $1.408 billion, a decrease of $74.4 million, or 5%, compared with sales of $1.483 billion in the comparable period a year earlier.

For the fiscal third quarter, sales in the company's upholstery group were $352 million, down 1.4% compared with the prior-year period. The La-Z-Boy Upholstery Group companies are Bauhaus, Centurion, Clayton Marcus, England, La-Z-Boy, and Sam Moore. The La-Z-Boy Casegoods Group companies are American Drew, American of Martinsville, Hammary, Kincaid, Lea and Pennsylvania House.
