550 brands show at Midec

09/02/2006

The 38th Midec – International Footwear Fashion – was held in Paris on February 3-5. The event attracted over 550 brands, including 73 new ones.

The number of visitors also increased, rising 19% to 9,873, 1,837 of whom came from overseas.

New footwear fashions for autumn/winter 2006/2007 were unveiled at the show, showing a trend towards new casual city wear where the borders between street and sport are narrowed, producing footwear for everyday wear.

The vintage influence remained strong, not only in shapes, but also in textures with aged, worn, mottled, dusty, patched effects.

Colour was also very evident with swings between subdued harmonies and more tonic tones, whilst metallic effects remain popular too.
